The Musical Theatre Educators Alliance
presented its third European Conference
"WHOSE ARTFORM IS IT, ANYWAY?"
7 - 10 September, 2011

above: students from Balletakademien Göteborg's production of Songs For A New World

Two of Europe's premier musical theatre training institutions will play host to leading musical theatre educators from programs around the world in Fall of 2011 - the Academy of Music and Drama at the University of Gothenburg and the Balettakademien in Göteborg, Folkuniversitetet (Gothenburg Ballet Academy), both located in Gothenburg, Sweden's second-largest city. This international MTEA conference is made possible through the generous support of its host institutions, with additional support from Penn State University.

The Musical Theatre Educators Alliance has been bringing together faculty and administrators from the world's top musical theatre programs for more than ten years, and this is MTEA's third European conference - the first was held in 2005 in conjunction with the International Festival of Musical Theater in Cardiff, Wales, and the second in 2009 was hosted by the Danish Academy of Musical Theatre, and the Stage School in Hamburg.

Our conference hosts this fall are Anna Maria Koziomtzis, Senior Faculty Administrator of the BA Program in Musical Theater and the MA Program in Musical Drama at the University of Gothenburg's Academy of Music and Drama and Hugo Tham, Rektor and Artistic Director of the Ballet Academy Gothenburg.
